Who we are

Riverside Kava Bar wasn’t born from a business plan—it was born from a shared belief: people deserve a place to unwind without losing themselves. After years of watching nightlife revolve around alcohol, hangovers, and conversations no one remembered, five friends decided Jacksonville needed something different.

That’s where Joe Dyer, Chris Dyer, Josh Garrett, Travis Badwen, and Damon Carney come in.

Each of us comes from different backgrounds, careers, and corners of the city, but we all felt the same pull—to build a space where connection comes naturally, clarity is celebrated, and everyone feels welcome. What started as conversations around late-night ideas and “what if” dreams turned into a mission we couldn’t ignore.

We opened Riverside Kava Bar to create a third place—not home, not work, but a vibe of its own. A place where:

  • People can relax without alcohol

  • Conversations are genuine, not rushed

  • Creativity and focus aren’t dulled—they’re sparked

  • Community isn’t an afterthought—it’s the reason we exist

We believe kava and botanical drinks can do more than fill a cup—they can build bridges between people, spark friendships, inspire ideas, and give our community a healthier way to connect.

This bar isn’t ours anymore—it belongs to everyone who walks through the door, pulls up a chair, and shares a moment. Whether you’re here to work, unwind, meet new faces, or just take a break from the noise, you’re part of what makes Riverside more than a bar.

We’re here to serve the community we love, one shell at a time.
And we’re just getting started.

Welcome to the movement. Welcome to Riverside Kava Bar!
